2019 Montepulciano
Montepulciano (we call it Monte for brevity) has shown itself to be a solid and consistent wine grape grown here in Texas throughout the years. As one of the principal grapes in Italian wines from Tuscany, it naturally pairs with many cuisines - Italian dishes are an obvious choice. The earthy and jammy berry nose gains complexity as it sits in the glass and breathes, which reveals subtle notes of licorice, rose petals, and leather. It’s a smooth sipper with rich, velvety tannins with flavors of coffee and toasted almonds from time aging in French oak. With nearly 2 years in bottle, it is drinking very nicely now and has really opened up.
